Chapter Five

“Today’s agenda: the dismantling of three hybrids, taking place in our mechanic’s offices. We’re still on guard for any rebel raids within the city. Please report suspicious activity to your general in command.”

I opened my eyes to the voice overhead. The morning’s report, huh? Did they start every morning like that?

My mind was in a daze from last night’s experience. What the hell did I do? Leyton’s soft lips pressed against mine, Randy’s cock buried in me, our powerful moans of pleasure, needful and wanton moods. The two hot, sweaty bodies against mine quickly pulled me back to the now.

Somehow, we had fallen asleep atop the small cot built for one. Leyton’s legs hung off the edge with Randy’s legs draped atop of mine. And mine… I gently tugged mine away from Leyton’s. Silently, I lifted myself away from the tangle and slid off the edge of the cot to stand. Those two, lying so still and gorgeous with their arms draped over each other, looked so peaceful. I wondered if they’d slept together before or if they shared sweet kisses or spoke of love like Leyton and I had.

Bastard!

No matter what had happened between us last night, I’d never be able to forgive and forget what he’d done. He’d left me alone. Never cared to come back. How could he claim he still loved me?

Leyton’s eyelids fluttered open and he turned to Randy who was still lying next to him. “Morning,” he said.

“Good morning,” Randy said.

“Ready?”

“No. I’ve never been ready for this.” Randy’s tone was sullen. “Are you sure you’ll prevent anything from happening?”

Leyton nodded, and then glanced up at me. “Good morning, Preston.”

“Today is…” I swallowed. “The dismantling?”

“Yes,” Leyton said as he slid off the bed. “And you’ll be staying in here.” He buttoned his slacks and adjusted himself.

“But why?”

“Because there will be a medical team present and Commander Irvin has specifically requested to watch.”

“Commander Irvin?” Randy interrupted. He sat up and lowered his head solemnly. “You never told me this.”

Leyton sighed. “His request was put in a month ago. Don’t know why.”

Randy shook his head. “Damn. Why’s it any of that asshole’s business?”

“In any case.” Leyton stepped around me, grabbing his lab coat from the back of his chair. “Preston, you will stay in my room during the dismantling. You’ll not make yourself known, no matter what you hear. I’ll be back afterward.”

Though I wanted to protest, all I could do was nod. “He’ll be okay, right?”

“I’ll do my best.” Leyton held out his hand to Randy. “We’ll stop at the med tech office on our way to the cafeteria.”

“So I’m stuck here all day, again?” I reconfirmed, not knowing what to do in such cramped quarters left me anxious.

“I’ll bring food,” Leyton answered, his eyes narrowed on me. “Randy and I have a lot to talk about before the dismantling.”

I pursed my lips and plopped back down on the bed when Randy stood. Would he be okay? Would I be okay? With my face in my hands, I couldn’t believe I was going to be stuck here for the entire day.
